Shaking the dust from your clothes, you hold up your torch to the exposed inside of the ancient tomb, having just arose out of the ground out of nowhere.
Telling from the pattern of weathering shown in the entrance's bronzy-black stone, this tomb is about 1,945 years old, not as ancient as most of the architectural remnants you have previously been poking around in, this is still worth checking out.
Darkness envelops you as you head into the stairwell leading down into the ancient crypt, but it is quickly held at bay by your brightly flaring torch.
Upon descending deeper, the color of the stone walls change from bronze to an amber-golden color, the inside of the tomb is oddly very clean, not full of dust and cobwebs as you had expected it to be.
The wall is full of strange carvings, it mostly depicts winged wolves performing actvities, farming, crafting, and so on.
Pillars encrusted with precious metals and semi-precious gems stand at each corner of the room.
Bronze colored statues of winged wolves, all in a bowing position, stand in two arranged rows in the center if the room, making a path of some sort, and, upon closer observance, their eyes are made of intricately cut pearl, the teeth are pure white ivory, and the noses are carved from jet and ebony.
Upon entering a chamber, you flash your torch around, seeing more wall carvings and three sealed doors, each with a small obelisk shaped structure next to it, each obelisk having a differently shaped hole in it, obviously meant to hold a series of keye of some sort.
Over by the far right wall, there are two stands, each one holding an object, one is a small silver circle with patterns of gold and jade carved into the sides, with a small indentation in the centre, obviously something is meant to fit into it.
The other object is an orb the color of the night sky, with tiny glimmers of white light that may be stars.
There are carvings on the wall above the two objects, showing the circle and the orb by theirselves, then the two combined together, and then there is a carving of an obelisk with the combined circle and orb in the middle of it.
Using your knowledge of reading carvings, when joined, the circle and orb make some sort of a keystone, which is inserted into one of the obelisks to unlock the door and grant access to one of the deeper portions of the tomb.
Picking up the circle and orb, you carefully join them together.
The orb rolls slowly into the circle's indented center, and a small red glow emits from the keystone momentarily before gradually fading.
Walking to the center of the room, between the bowing wolf statues, you hold up the keystone and try to match it with the shape of the indentation of each obelisk.
The keystone matches the indentation shape of the far left obelisk, and you approach it and place the keystone within.
A bright red aura emanates from the obelisk, and there is a loud grinding sound as the old stone door slid open.
Holding your torch up, you enter the far left chamber.
More wall carvings, but the ones on the wall you first see upon entrance appears to be some kind of guide.
There are two columns, one column lists characters of an unknown language, written using various lines, dots, and geometric shapes, the other column lists the letters of the Latin Alphabet, each one matching up with the symbol that it had been derived from.
Taking out your notepad, you copy down the carvings of the two alphabets, they may come in handy when deciphering the oddly written text scattered all throughout the tomb.
Upon looking around the rest of the chamber, you see more winged wolf statues, but these stand on their haunches, and each was holding a container of something in their cupped paws.
In the middle of the room, a large golden carved battlehorn rests upon a raised slab, supported by twin clay holders, each holding up a curve of the horn.
On the far left wall, a variety of tribal medicine staves rest upon metal holders jutting outward from the wall.
The lowest one is a simple carved stick that was thin at the bottom and getting thicker at the middle and curled into a spiraled knob at the top, the highest one is an intricately carved ebony-red bo staff threaded with silver and blue runes, with one end adorned with a rich purple cloth inscribed with glowing silver runes.
Telling from how they were arranged, it went from apprentice to high master, this chamber was dedicated to the council of Sages and Medicine Weavers.
The containers held in the paws of each wolf statue held some kind of salve or mystical medicine of some sort, the names are inscribed in the runic language on the outside of each container.
Having seen enough of the statues and learning of the Sages and Medicine Weavers, you turn your attention to the battlehorn.
It seems so out of place compared to the rest of the chamber, and, upon closer look, the carvings describe winged wolves fighting creatures with spears, swords, and shields.
The structure of the horn is very interesting, the wide end of the horn faces the wall in front of you, there are two loops, a large one near the wide end of the horn, and a smaller one near the mouthpiece of the horn.
The hole of the mouthpiece is shaped very much like a whistle's, with various shaped holes in the top of the area of the horn closest to it that made the horn sound out different notes and pitches.
Out of plain curiousity, you bend down, put your lips on the mouthpiece, hold your fingers on all the holes except for the third one from the mouthpiece, and give the horn a good, hard blow.
A deep, booming note echoes through the chamber, and you quickly back away as a small quake occurs inside the chamber.
You regain your balance as the quake fades, and a sharp grinding sound, like nails on a chalkboard, comes from north of you.
Covering up your ears to block out the horrid sound, you see that upon blowing the horn, a secret door leading to a hidden room had been opened.
When the sound stops and the hidden room is completely open, you step inside and look around.
Four blazing braziers light up the room, showing the paintings on the three walls.
The centermost wall depicts a deep reddish-brown winged wolf dressed in golden red armor, both paws balled into fists, both fists glowing with bright ruby-orange flames.
His face is determined and bold, a golden flamed sword hangs from his belt, and his eyes are bright yellow, he has the stature of a hero.
The painting on the left wall was also of a winged wolf, but this one was black in color, with jet colored armor lined with amethyst, a visciously glowing jewel attached to a silver chain hanging around his neck, his wings folded around his hunched form ominously.
His eyes were a deep purple, and flashed hatred and contempt, his ivory fangs bared, and a twisted black blade hangs at his belt, emitting a vile aura.
The last one on the right wall was of a three-headed beast, with rocky blue-black skin, veins of bright green exposed in various areas.
Each head had a mouth filled with rows upon rows of serrated teeth, a long deep greenish tongue that tapered to a point at the end, bright greenish saliva that dripped out and all over, and each vile maw was opened wide enough that upon closer view, you could see folds of greenish throat flesh, as if the beast intended to devour you alive.
The eyes glowed green, and an array of horns led from the top of each skull to the cheekbones.
It's slitted nostrils were opened wide, and greenish smoke floated up from each one in large clouds.
The neck and belly of the beast was like a dragon's, and was dark green in color, the front paws had two long toes, each ending in coal black claws, the back paws had three toes with black claws as well.
The tail was long and whiplike, ending in a small hooked barb, and the body was covered in greenish spikes along the neck and back.
In the center of the room, a large black wolf statue, oddly with no wings, bent over, it's ruby eyes looking down upon all.
Within it's jaws it carried a thick, clear tube with two flattened circular lids at each end.
Telling from the cream colored object inside the tube, it was a scroll.
Gently prying the tube from the wolf's jaws, you take off one of the lids and shake out the scroll, which slides into your hands.
Upon opening the parchment, and after deciphering the text, you discover this is an ancient Epic poem about Rorgriro, who was the hero of this civilization.
Sitting down on a stone bench nearby, you begin to read the Epic of Rorgriro, the greatest werepyre hero in history...
